Cairns is a regional city located in the far north of Queensland, Australia, with a population of approximately 160,000 people and growing.

Cairns is a popular travel destination for tourists because of its warm tropical climate and close proximity to Great Barrier Reef. Tourism plays a vital role in the Cairns economy and is considered one of the top destinations in Australia for both foreign tourists and domestic travellers.

The Council has also enlisted a top urban design and planning company, along with other local businesses, to commence a strategic plan for the Cairns City Centre. The plan will be imperative to the future developments driving the city’s ever increasing economy.
